Our 2-year olds are welcomed into a purpose-built room with stimulating and exciting resources. Staff are highly trained and ensure the curriculum is tailored to each individual child. We know this can be a difficult time for the children to separate from their parent/carer, therefore during a home visit staff will plan an individual transition process for each child to ensure they are happy and settled at Nursery.
The Nursery session runs on a morning only and the times are 8.45am to 11.45am.
Library Day is Friday
We encourage you and your child to foster a love of reading. Each Friday the children will choose a library book for them to bring home. We ask that you share this with them, reading the story and asking them to name objects/pictures from the story. Please return to Nursery each week so that your child can choose a new book.
During your child’s time in Nursery staff focus on developing the key skills of:
Mathematical Skills
- Naming colours: red, orange, yellow, green, blue.
- Sorting objects by colour/size/shape.
- Using objects to build and create
- Learning to count out loud to 5, then 10.
Literacy Skills
- Developing language, learning new words.
- Learning to listen to short stories.
- Joining in with nursery rhymes and action songs.
Personal and social skills
- Building friendships – taking turns, sharing, listening to one another.
- Developing self help skills – putting on own coat, toileting.
