At St John’s CE Academy, we aim to equip children with the knowledge, understanding, and confidence to thrive in today’s society. Through Personal, Social, and Health Education (PSHE), we reinforce our school mission  ‘Trust in God. Trust Yourself. Aspire, Believe, Achieve!’ to make positive contributions to the school and the wider community.
PSHE helps children grow as healthy, independent, and responsible individuals, addressing personal, social, and cultural issues they face while building self-worth. Starting in early years and continuing through Year 6, our curriculum aligns with key campaigns like Anti-Bullying Week, Internet Safety Week, and Remembrance Day.
We use the One Decision scheme, an interactive resource developed by experts and children to engage young learners and support their development from an early age.

Learning is contextualised and made relevant to the needs of our children. In addition to the PSHE Association planning, our Year 5 and 6 pupils take part in a local ‘Healthy School Questionnaire’ conducted by the Local Relationships and Sexual Health Advisor. This enables us to tailor the curriculum to meet the individual needs of our children.

All learning activities provide an opportunity for pupils to develop their skills, knowledge and attitude. We never underestimate the impact that debate, discussion; practising using language and  talking about feelings can have in developing key skills for the future.
